Trying to find hope

So according to my counts I should be 10 weeks and 4 days. Had my first visit and everything seem fine. Did an ultrasound and the sac could be seen but no baby. Then a vaginal us was done and they could see something very tiny. They said it could be 2 things. Either I'm way earlier than I thought. They said it seem like maybe 6 weeks or I had a miss miscarriage. I had a bit of brown discharge for a few days but just when I wiped. I guess my question is has anyone had this happen? Were they earlier than they thought or how did things turn out?
