Can pregnancy hormones cause piercing infection?

I have had my cartilage piercing for about 4 years now and it never has been infected, I’m about 4 weeks pregnant now and my piercing is super red and hurts and I just woke up like that today? Could it be the reason that my hormones are rising and causing it to get inflamed?

I would put some kind of ointment or cream. I normally use hydrocortisone cream if irritated. If infected you could use antibiotic ointment.

After my first pregnancy I developed a metal allergy and had to take all of my piercings out. All kinds of fun things can happen during pregnancy.

I was thinking the same thing. I’m 9 weeks pregnant and have had the same issue! 
I have a triple helix and had them all done at once, have had them for 2 years. The middle one hurts pretty bad and actually leaks sometimes now. 
I would suggest to keep it as clean as possible with a salt solution.
