Reupholstering a glider

My MIL's friend is getting rid of her glider and giving it to me for free. I'm going to reupholster it and paint the base. I either want to do a distressed/chalky white for the base or a distressed/weathered grey. If I do the white base I will go with a solid grey fabric. If I do a weathered grey base I'm thinking of a shaggy/furry off white fabric. What do you guys think would go best with our nursery?
