Accutane worth it?

Question

Has anyone ever taken Accutane to treat acne? I’m allergic to so many medicines and have a rare kidney disease so there’s only a few acne pills I can take and my dermatologist is recommending Accutane but I’m nervous about side effects. Does it cause you to gain weight?

No weight gain and it did phenomenally for my skin.  The time while you're taking it is pretty rough.  But I'd do again in a heartbeat.

I took it for 8 or 9 months at the highest dosage for all but the first month about 4 years ago and have a few side effects still that I don't think will ever go away. 
I also still get acne occasionally but no where near as bad or as consistent as I originally had it. It's not bad enough for me to wasn't to go through it all again for a second treatment as I know can sometimes be required.

I took isotane about 11 years ago, it had previously been called roaccutane - I’m guessing it’s the same thing as what you’re talking about! It was amazing, I took it for 9 months total. I didn’t have any weight gain or negative side effects apart from my skin dried out really badly (as it’s meant to), I was advised to take it during winter because you can get sunburnt super easily. So my skin looked worse before it got better but it’s 11 years on and I hardly have breakouts now. If I do it will only be one or two spots, before I had really bad acne from the age of 12. It was quite life changing for me!
