Catheter?

Can I refuse a catheter for a c section? Last time I had one.. I had a deadly uti infection that landed me in the hospital. Scheduled for my second on on the 4th. I’m horrified!

No, it’s necessary at least for surgery, and you won’t be able to control those muscles until your spinal wears off. It’s not only that you’d pee yourself, you might retain urine instead which displaces your uterus and can cause you to have extra bleeding.

I think it’s necessary since you can’t feel anything and can’t control your bladder. Just because you had an infection with your first doesn’t mean you’ll get one again.

You can but you’ll probably have to pee on bed pads....you won’t be able to walk right away
