Stretch and sweep at 40 weeks

Yesterday I had a painful stretch and sweep. 2cm and 60% effaced. Immediately after I was getting heavy contractions. Lasted for hours and got very painful to the point that I thought this was labor and got ready to leave the house. Bloody show and all. Well eventually they tapered off and now nothing. Wtf. I’m so disappointed. Has this happened to anyone and still go into labor later? I seriously thought this was it. I can’t take the tease anymore.
