Is it normal for my 5 month old to eat every hour?

My son will be 6 months on the 28th. He eats every hour. He has ate like this ever since he was born. I wanted to wait until 6 months to feed him baby food, but it’s only 5 days away so I started some today. I fed him 2 ounces of applesauce and 1 ounce of green beans. He also ate 5 ounces of formula. (He normally eats 6, so I thought that was good) at 3:09 and it is now 4:07. He is hungry againnnnnn. Everyone keeps telling me to have him wait 2-3 hours, but I can’t. He is not a crying baby. He never cries. But I have tried distracting him with toys, Timmy time, jumper ect to get him to go at least 2 hours. He will cry if I don’t feed him.

Also, I have tried cereal and that does nothing for him.

It’s not a growth spurt because this is how he has always ate.

I absolutely love feeding him. Everyone says that he should go 2-3 hours without eating.
