First Post-Partum Period

I breastfed my baby for a year, and actually just quit about a month ago. During the whole first year, I never got my period. I just got my first period about 8 days ago. I have been able to get by without having to use a tampon. I still have not stopped bleeding. Is it normal to have your first post-partum period last longer than a week? I don’t feel as if I am bleeding less each day, but rather about the same amount each day, therefore not really seeing an end in sight! I’m ready to start trying for baby #2!
