*Read first* Young adults and rated-R films?

A woman posted in a Facebook group that her daughter in high school (a senior) was shown the film “Super Troopers 2” while in class. She referred to the film as a porno and was completely appalled that kids her age would ever be shown that. Let alone any rated-R movie.

Although I don’t think it was an appropriate film to play in school, I don’t see what the big deal is for a 17/18 year old to watch a rated-R movie.

Do people really go as far as to shelter their offspring in this way? Can get a job, can drive, can go off to college and have complete access to the internet, but can’t watch certain movies?
