What should I do? 😭
So about 3 days ago, we found my rabbit (Holland Lop) acting strange. She had a weird head tilt. We watched her for 24 hours and it seemed to be getting worse. She has a head tilt, no balance, has body roll fits for 5+ minutes at least every 15-20 minutes (they look like seizures), her eyes flicker back and forth and she hasnt been eating as much. We took her to the vet and they told us it was probably a blood or parasite infection that started in her lungs or brain, branched out into her ears, which is the cause of her bad balance and tilted head. He also told me that the nerves are dying on one side of her head as well. I think the worst this was, he said she can feel the pain when she has a head tilt and has body rolls, which almost made me sob uncontrollably. I was given medication and antibiotics for 3 weeks to hopefully cure the infection. But, Im not too sure if i should go ahead with the 3 weeks, or put her down now. She is only 9 months old, but i hate to see her in pain. She can barely walk without falling over and having a body roll "seizure".
The day after medication i didnt really see any improvements, she was eating a bit more however. But.. i just feel bad.
What is the humane thing to do in this situation? Put her down or try the medication for a few weeks?
In this picture she just had a body roll, and she stays rolled up in a ball on the ground for a few minutes.
This pic just shows you how bad her head is tilted from birds eye view.
(Btw youll see a blanket and a lot of hay because, when she rolls, i dont want her to hurt herself. They can be pretty intense and severe.)
