Depo shot ?

Hi , I’m getting the depo shot when I go get check for my six weeks postpartum, but I’ve read so many thing about it that I’m not sure if I should get it , it’ll be my first time getting it , i never been on birth control . I want to know that side effects , or it depends on the person ? Can anybody recommend me a good birth control ? I’ve being thinking a lot if I should get the depo or not . I’ll appreciate it a lot ladies 😅😓

I’ve personally never been on depo, and never would! It’s awful for ur body, especially the longer ur on it. The type of progestin it uses is steroid-like, which is the cause for possible direct weight gain, possible fertility issues after use, and loss of bone density which can eventually lead to osteoporosis. Even depo’s own manufactures don’t recommend being on it longer than 2 years, and some doctors won’t even offer it anymore. Literally any other method is safer, granted ur medically fit to use it. The arm implant & IUDs are highly effective alternatives. They’re progestin only as well (so safe to use while breastfeeding), but use different/safer types of progestin than depo, not to mention the dose of hormones ur body gets with the implant, IUDs, and other methods are smaller than the dose u get with depo as well. There’s also a non hormonal IUD. 
I personally have the arm implant & overall I love it! Definitely recommend trying it. I recommend anything besides depo, really.

I have been on it in the past and I know a lot of other women that have also...it was no good for us...it keep us from getting pregnant but was so moody! And negative, always thought the World was against me...very paranoid...if someone was talking and I couldn't hear them I thought they had to be talking about me...was very bitchy too..same for others I know...but once you are on it...its hard to see it even about yourself...I had good luck with the Nuva Ring..but if you smoke there is an increased risk of heart attack amd stroke...but non invasive and still have periods...and I couldnt remember to take the pill everyday..never had a set schedule
