Struggling

alex

While I was pregnant, I decided I wanted to breastfeed for a lot of reasons, mainly to be cost efficient and to bond with my son. When we were in the hospital he was at risk for jaundice so they had us supplement with some formula. They also had me use a nipple shield because under the IV drip, my nipple was staying flat. Now that we’re home, he’s eating a ton of formula and I can’t get him back on the shield and my nipples still haven’t come out enough for him to get a good latch. I feel so lost and disappointed with myself, that not only can I not breastfeed my son successfully, I can barely get up to soothe him when he cries due to all the pain that I’m in. Any words of encouragement or advice would be greatly appreciated...
