Is baby led weaning safe? I’ve seen a couple of friends do it, but I feel like my 8 month old would choke! He’s not even fully accepted purées yet. He’s mostly still taking formula/breast milk.

Yep! But since you started purees first you’ll need to ease into it instead of just starting to give pieces of food. 
My sons first day of foods at 6m was eggs, bacon, PBJ, mandarins, steak, asparagus, rice. 😂

My oldest it wouldn’t have worked for. But this one it was perfect. He’s ten months and eats like a champ!

We did it with my son, he did great. There’s lots of information out there on how to properly do it. You can talk to your pediatrician as well

I wouldn’t rush it if he’s not ready. Give him
Some mushy food on his high chair to play with. If he tries to eat it then he’s ready if not don’t worry, it will happen!

I have an 8 month old and he has a super sensitive gag reflex.  He has never actually "choked" but some textures just make him gag. He generally refuses purees, and the only thing he will eat on a spoon is yogurt or applesauce.  He just started feeding himself and he really enjoys it. I didn't do BLW with my first because I didn't want her to get messy but i'm trying it with this one since he won't take purees after getting his hands on some shredded chicken and noodles
