Choosing a doctor

I just had my first appointment. I’m only 4 weeks and maybe a few days, but I’m leaving in a road trip in one week and will be gone until end of February so wanted to see the doctor before I left. I feel that I had read somewhere that on a first doctor visit they would draw blood to confirm the pregnancy and to check hormone levels. He seemed to think this was unnecessary and did nothing, not even a urine test. He just scheduled me for March 18th to have cell DNA test done. What do you guys think. Is this pretty standard? Am I just worrying too much?

EDIT: he also said he would wait to do an ultrasound until 20 weeks. Is this also typical?
