So my husbands aunt and grandmother are chain smokers 🤢 I don’t want to bring my child around them when she is a baby (or ever really) when they are smoking. It’s easy for me to tell them they can’t hold baby or smoke around her if they came to visit our home BUT they live 45 minutes away and I know they will never drive to see us. (They didn’t even come to my baby shower because it was “too far”) so if I want our baby to have a relationship with them, which I do seeing as my husband is very close with his grandmother, we will have to go to their house. So my problem is my husband doesn’t feel like we can ask them to not smoke while we are there and that we will just have to walk away with our baby if they start smoking. I get it because it’s their house but to me it seems like it should not be so difficult to just not smoke when we are visiting... does anyone have any advice about what to do or should I just do what my husband is suggesting.
