Recently my bf of 4 years started saying he wanted to go to the Police Academy. I was happy to hear it, because he’s nearly 28 and hasn’t really done shit with his life. He went to college out of state for a year and dropped out; a couple of years later he went to a community college in our city but would barely go to class, I pretty much did his homework and essays which I never should’ve done but still he dropped out of that anyway. He talks and talks about what he wants to do but never does anything. He talks about having a business but unless they’re giving away businesses, that’s never going to happen. Really it seems like he wants me to set up his business, write his policies and procedures, get the business licensed, so he can run it....I do have an MBA and experience running a business, but he got all funny when I was like, well I want to be a partner if I’m doing all this. Plus he wanted me to run the office of said business.

Anyway so recently he said he wanted to go to the Police Academy. He was all excited about it; talking about they’re paying $70K a year (I thought this was far fetched but okay). Then suddenly he started talking about it less and less so it kind of felt like he was backing out of doing it. I think he doesn’t wanna stop smoking weed but he says that to be a cop you have to get your hair cut. He’s been growing dreadlocks for about 3.5 years. So over a job that he says will pay him $70/yr, a job that will get you out of living with you’re grandma, a job that will allow you to afford your own car, a job that will give you benefits and give your kids a future, you decide it’s not worth it because you don’t wanna get a haircut. THOSE DREADS AREN’T PAYING SHIT!

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had locs 15 years I I understand but this is SURVIVAL.

He gets these jobs paying $10/hr but does nothing but complain about the job, the people, every morning saying “this shit sucks”, yet he does NOTHING to make things better and he stay in conflict with the people at work. Mind you, most of the time he’s not working at all. You’d think he’d be happy just to have a job. If he lasts longer than 90 days at a job, it’s a blessing. I’m just sick of it and getting sick of him too.
