Strep B?

Question

This is my 3rd pregnancy and I’ve never tested positive with it before.. but now I guess I have it. And I know nothing about it other than you need an antibiotic. 
Can anyone give me information about it? 
I tried googling it too. But I also wanna hear about it from people who actually had it. 
Can it cause early labor?

It’s not dangerous to adults but it is to newborn so as soon as labor start he’d to hospital and make sure you get your antibiotics....I had complications during labor and did not get the antibiotics my full term healthy baby got the infection she stayed in nicu for 2 weeks....of course there were other things but she also had to infection.

It's super common , won't send ya into labor.  You just need to get to the hospital right when your labor starts so you can get antibiotics, then the doctor might want to keep you and baby an extra day or two depending on if you were able to get all of the medicine before giving birth

Every woman has it in and around her vagina/rectum, but it becomes and issue when there’s enough of it to be colonized. The crazy thing about it is that you can test positive a couple weeks before you give birth and then actually be negative for it at birth or vice versa. You can take a gbs protocol to reduce the chances of you being colonized and testing positive, but now that you have already tested positive you will just automatically get antibiotics when you go into labor.

I also never had it until my third. She was my latest baby...came a day before her due date so I don't think it would cause early labor. I was given IV antibiotics during labor. They monitor babies white blood cell count after birth and if there is an issue baby may be given more antibiotics. In my case, my labor was too short for me to be given two rounds of the medicine so My daughter was given more. It caused us to have to stay 48 hours as opposed to 24 but that was the only real inconvenience.

Super common most woman have it in their vagina and it’s no harm to us. But when we are pregnant it can be harmful to baby if left untreated DURING labor.

Nothing to worry about, it doesn't affect anything before or after labor. They just hook up the iv when you go in and that's it.
