What kind of privileges should more mature children receive, if any?

Question

If you have a child who is more mature and trustworthy, what sort of privileges would they be granted? To what extent would you trust them? Sorry if this is too general and open ended. 
I’m not really sure how to phrase what I’m asking. I should probably include examples but I want to keep it somewhat open ended. For discussion’s sake, what type of freedoms would you allow? How much independence would you try and foster? Just for a point of reference, we can talk about ages 8, 14, and 17.

So, 8, 14, 17. I’ll do it the way my grandparents did me. 
8 - No restrictions on TV, phone, computer, etc. If they are truly mature, they can learn and explore at their own pace through technology. I don’t care if they watch law and order SVU or a scary movie. Not gonna tell them to stop unless they start having nightmares or something. They can choose what books to read, begin to set up their own homework schedule, get ready for school themselves, maybe walk with a friend to school if applicable. If they want a pet, I will let them get one around this age to further responsibility. They can have a mobile phone. 
14 - I’ll let them handle their beginning of high school coursework here. They can plan it, keep track of their syllabi, set up volunteer activities, etc. Of course, I’ll be there for assistance, but at high school age I won’t be bugging them about much. If they’re mature, they’ll be doing it without being told and exceeding my expectations. They can choose how to dress, what to eat, if they want to join a gym, club, sport, etc and I will offer my input, but I will not force any decisions on them as long as they do not seriously interfere with anything. 
17 - They can leave the house without telling me where they’re going. They are close to 18, a legal adult, and I will treat them as such. I trust that they are going to one of their jobs, internships, or volunteer positions, or are going somewhere with good people. They can do just about everything on their own without my approval— if they are truly mature enough to where I am at this point, I know they will ask me for it on the things that we both know are important. I won’t sweat the small or medium stuff with them, only the large. I’ll check in every once in a while to ask about schoolwork and look at a report card but I won’t be on top of them every day about it as I know they’re doing it.

14 I got my first phone. It only had unlimited texting and free calls after 7pm 😂 but I earned A’s and was a good, mature kid. It was also the first privilege I got taken away when I was in trouble. 
When I was 17, curfew was 12am but on football game nights, occasionally my parents would let me stay out until 12:30-1am with certain friends. Mostly we would watch movies at someone’s house and just be silly girls.

Depends on age. Probably staying up later, Friends over on weekdays, going places with friends after school, or something they like it rarely get(ex for me:Pecan pie because no one makes it) However one thing I’ll never understand is parents who take privileges like doors away, that’s invasion of privacy People

Really depends on a lot of things... how old are they? A 12 year old who is really mature for their age, should only get so many privileges. No matter how mature. 
If they are under 18 and living under my roof, they are still a child.

Theres definitely a huge difference in an 8 year old, 14 year old and 17 year old so yes, privileges would be different. A 14 and 17 year old could be home alone but not an 8 year old. 17 year old can be out later, date, etc where a 14 and 8 year old wont. Theres so many things with those age gaps.

Right I'd say that would depend on the age you're talking. If your talking a child under 18 maybe being able to stay up a little later at night. Being able to use a computer without parental controls (again pending on how young) maybe being able to have friends over when you're not home. Or being allowed to take a city bus. Having a cell phone, maybe they want a pet and you think it's something they're ready for. I think this all really depends on the age of the person.

Just depends on what kind of person the child is and how they're being raised from the jump. Privelages I think of are cell phones by middle school bc they'll be doing more after school activities or sports that may require emergency calls. If they're licensed drivers by high school, let them borrow your car to gain confidence on the road and that freedom feeling. If they're 18+ still living at home that they don't have to tell you every little detail about their plans before going out, If you've raised them "right" this far you gotta be confident in them that they'll make the right decisions while out and about.

My 9 year old is pretty responsible. He’s very mature so he likes to do a lot himself. He makes his breakfast, we homeschool so he has an agenda book with all of his assignments for the week that he crosses out as he completes them, he makes his own lunch (because he wants to), has a chore chart that he crosses out, then he does his extracurricular activities, he also gets to go out in the garage and take things were not using anymore apart- he loves learning how things operate and are put together, and he’s allowed to play on his phone (it’s set up more like an iPod with just games and no safari).. he pretty much does whatever he wants. But if he plays outside we all go as a family.. he doesn’t do that alone yet. 
14 and 17 not sure what my kids will be allowed to do on their own at that point. I guess it’ll be up to their interests and how responsible they are at that point.
