Diaper change frequency

Both my father in law and my mom commented on how I should change my baby’s diaper more and I think they’re being critical. He’s 14 days old. I change him after he wakes up and nurses one side (per my LC’s instructions so he’ll perk up for the other side) after I hear a number 2, and then check him before he gets ready to sleep. So he never goes more than an hour without a diaper change while awake. Then he’ll sleep for 2-3 hours without a diaper change because it was clean before he went to sleep. I think that’s reasonable and he hasn’t gotten a rash. I ignored their comments- should I wake him to change him?
