Trigger shot

Ok looking for advice!! I triggered 12 days ago and today is 10dpo - I don’t think the trigger worked as I was already gearing for ovulation as I ovulated within 24 hours - got only 1 chance to dtd- so I caved today and took a cheapie and it’s faintly positive - by the half life calculations at what I’ve read 28 hour half life I’d only have a small amount left of hcg which would be undetectable on the 25miu test I have - anyone have experience with trigger? You think I caved too early and it’s stil the trigger? I’ve got 4 days until hoe bag is supposed to show up
