Positive Induction Birth Story
So baby girl is already 5 months old, but I thought I'd share anyways :)
My due date was Thursday, August 30, 2018. I had what I hoped would be my last doctor's appointment on Monday, August 27, 2018. So I was 37 weeks and 4 days. I get to the clinic and the nurse takes my blood pressure and weight as usual. My blood pressure reads at 155/94. YIKES. So long story short. My doctor decides that's reason enough to induce me in hopes of catching/preventing preeclampsia. Hubby and I head over to the hospital. They hook me up to the monitors and to my surprise I'm already having contractions!!! The plan was to start me on cervadil but since I was having contractions the nurse and doctor decide to put me on pitocin instead to make the contractions stronger. So at 8pm they put in the IV and start the meds. Now here's the only negative part of my story so just a little warning. ***It took 5 tries to get the IV in and the nurses kept failing and popped all 5 veins they tried in. It was horrible. They ended up having to call the anesteseologist to put my IV in. It took him 4 seconds haha. He was my savior. I was actually starting to think that I wouldn't be induced cause they couldn't get it in haha.*** Anyways. Things were moving along well. Doctor broke my water around 12am. That's when I decided to get the epidural because after breaking my water pain really shot up. Epidural was AMAZING. Lol. Wore off a couple of times but that's my own fault cause I kept putting off getting extra doses. When the nurse asks you if you want another dose ... say yes lol. They know the timing of the drug and waiting too long will only make it wear off before the next dose kicks in. Started pushing at 8am. Baby girl came out at 8:28am on August 28. So 12.5 hours of labour. No tears. Just a few abrasions requiring 1 stitch. That's it :)
