When is the beginning of your second trimester? I’ve heard so many different answers

Technically it’s like 13 and 5 for the US I think. Most people say 12 because that’s 3 months and US counts pregnancy as 9 months.
In Japan it’s 16 weeks or 4 months because they go with a literal 40 weeks being 10 months with 4 weeks each (lunar type calendar) which seems more accurate to me. 
So I think it really depends on where you’re from and what sort of maternity calendar they use.

At my 12 week appointment, my doctor said that there is a misconception of when the first trimester is over because everyone is always wanting to get to the 12 week mark that the chance of miscarriage reduces to 1%. But she said that even though getting to 12 weeks is important, the second trimester actually starts at week 14.

13.3 exactly. This is the reason why some count 13 weeks and some 14. Nothing wrong with either. I prefer 14 weeks because now I’m definitely in my second trimester 😂

It’s technically 13w and some days (like 3 or 4) so some people count it early at 13w and some people wait until 14w where it’s more official.
