Were you induced?

Autumn • Mommy to Harrison 🥰💛

Trying to mentally prepare myself for a possible induction on Wednesday... how did it go for you? What should I expect? Any advice?

Kinda torn on how to feel about it all.. really wanted to labor at home but looks like that may not be a possibility now. Feeling defeated 😔

I actually didn’t mind the induction. It was a long process for me because I was only at a 1. The contractions are obviously painful and I definitely was happy to get the epidural. I had to have an emergency C-section due to circumstances unrelated to the induction when I was dilated to a 7 but all in all the worst part of it is it would have taken a full 72 hours from start to baby being here. That’s what I would prepare for. Most everyone I know who was induced was in it for at least 48 hours.

I was induced after my water broke last week. It hurt wayyy more than I was expecting but I had a long way to go (I was only 1 cm when I came in). I would say to go into it with your eyes open, don’t be afraid to request pain meds and be open to a c section. I ended up with an emergency one 36 hours into my induction and honestly it was a relief because I was so exhausted. But I would also say I got very close to a vaginal delivery, I was at 9+ when the doctors needed to do c section because baby was in distress. You are going to do great!!

Yes! But you will be amazing, I always kind of rolled my eyes when people said the baby makes it worth it... so true!! No matter how your labor goes, it won’t last forever and at the end you get your sweet babe

I was induced at 39 &6 and im an L&D nurse. Most people are surprised when they start having pain. This is normal! You will have pain it maybe be sudden or may be gradual. I wont lie i was shocked how bad contractions felt. it is labor so mentally prepare for that. I started with cytotec to soften the cervix. hrs later then a foley balloon which is designed to dilate the cervix to 4-5cm. I then got pitocin shortly after n lets jus say i went from cramps to CONTRACTIONS lol. I got an epidural an hour later. After that it was fine i got to fully dilated jus like most women and had a vaginal delivery.

110% agree with going from cramps to STRONG contractions!! But other than that, i felt like it was still a normal labor with having to be induced!

I was induced for a second time this past Thursday. 12:05am they started the pitocin and I had him at 6:17 Thursday evening. He had some scary heart rate drops towards the end but other than that it was okay. I ended up pushing for a about a half hour with vacuum assist. With my daughter I went into the hospital to be induced Monday evening and didn’t have her until Thursday morning.

I had a really great induction experience despite it being a surprise medical induction (preeclampsia). I went in expecting it to be a super long process but from the start of the pitocin drip to my son's birth was only 3.5 hours. I didn't feel any real pain until after my water broke which was 18 minutes before my son's arrival. I was 3cm, maybe more (got checked the day before and things moved so quickly they never got a chance to check before it was time to push) when I went in though and had already been having irregular contractions.

I was induced at 39+4 and it was fantastic. Could not have asked for a better experience. I went in at 2cm and 70% effaced and 8 hours later I was holding my son.
