Hey all -

I’m American, but giving birth in France. People here keep asking me if I’ve had a toxoplasmosis vaccine and when I shrug like “ehhh, what?” they all gasp and give me this sad pitying look, like I’m going to drop dead tomorrow. The obstetrician here even wants me to have blood work once a month just to check for that one specific thing. I’ve read that toxo is a food contamination similar to listeria and salmonella, stuff I’m well aware of and take necessary precautions to stay away from. Any of you have experience with being pregnant overseas and toxoplasmosis? Is this specific bacteria more prevalent outside of the US? Gonna ask my American doc as well, but any insight you have would be very helpful!
