What happens if I go overdue?

Just wondering if anyone can help me? I’m currently 36+5 with my first baby. I’ve already got my 40+1 appointment scheduled with my midwife if baby doesn’t arrive by then but I was just wondering what she will do at that appointment. Will she examine my cervix or offer me a sweep? Will an induction be offered or do I have to wait until I’m 41 or 42 weeks for that? Thanks 😊

They won’t check your cervix at any appointment as a normal procedure, they will se how far baby has dropped and is engaged e.g 3/5ths. Some midwives will offer a sweep before due date especially if you ask, others don’t. I had a sweep at my 39 week appt, (my 40wk was two days after due date). I started having contractions the next day and had my daughter three days early. My friend with same midwife had a sweep at 39/40/41 wk appt and her daughter was a week late. They booked her induction at the 41 wk appointment but never needed it

Waiting time all depends on circumstances, I had my sweep done 4 days before my due date, and I had an appointment to be induced on my due date, because I was high risk, not a lot of water, & the way my daughter was (they detected in scan curve in spine, and she wasn’t growing as fast as they would think) 
But my friend she waited until 2 weeks after her due date to be induced.

You’ll most likely be offered a sweep, I was given one but it didn’t do anything and then I ended up being induced at 42 weeks.
