So this is my 3rd pregnancy (2nd live delivery hopefully), I am a nurse at the hospital in the town I live and have insurance through them. It will cost 1500$ for my prenatal care and delivering at the hospital. I REALLY would prefer giving birth at a center or at home mostly because I feel like I’d be much more comfortable at my most vulnerable surrounded by those that support a natural delivery. The birth center is 40 minutes away and they have midwives that do center births and home births. This is considered out of network so it would cost me 5,000$! This just blows my mind. I’m not sure what to do here.. I’m leaning towards delivering at the hospital only because it’s significantly cheaper and I know my current midwifes support natural delivery, but the hospital doesn’t allow water births and the such and I feel like they’re much more comfortable with the western medicine approach to labor and delivery vs natural approach to things. What would you do if you were me?!
