How often do you bathe your newborn (under 3mos)?

I’m reading about sleep schedules and a lot of people are saying to put baby on a schedule every day to get him/her to sleep longer and better. Nearly everyone says to do bath time right before bed, which is what we do, but we were told not to bathe our newborn every day because it’ll dry out his skin.

We did like 1 or twice a week in the actual bath and used wipes/damp wash cloth in between

We do it every night as part of our bedtime routine. He gets water and lotion every night. We do soap every third night or so.

I bathe my 2.5 month old daily and we just were told to use lotion! Not a bad thing to have a squeaky clean baby!

You can do a bedtime routine without a nightly bath. 
Bathing too much can dry out newborns skin and there is some research suggesting it can also lead to cradle cap.

My doc said “when needed” until after 3 months. Before then their skin produces natural oils that protect them from bacteria and dry skin. So he said 2/3 times a week was fine and then use a warm cloth in between baths to clean his chin or arms or whatever gets dirty. After that we did every other day

Try daily breastmilk baths. It’s really good at moisturizing baby’s skin along with other benefits. Id only mildly soap 2-3 times a week

We didn’t keep my son on a bath schedule. We just bathed him if he stunk. 😂 He has no neck when he was an infant so formula kept getting stuck and it was gross. I was also extremely nervous about bathing him. I refused to do it alone. My husband always helped.

My baby is 14 weeks and he gets showered every 2nd day mostly just to rid any fluff or hair that’s on him (we have two cats and my mums has 3, we visit her regularly) he gets a mild soap wash that mainly focuses on his armpits, bum and boy bits, little bit of shampoo up top. Afterwards I give him a baby oil massage, clean his ears with baby ear buds and powder his bits and armpits before bed. I would shower him less often if we lived in a cooler climate but it’s so easy to get sticky and smelly where I live from just doing nothing.
