Can I ask my OB to sweep my membranes at 38 weeks? (Please read description)

Sorry if this is a dumb question...FTM here... 
I have my 38 week appt tomorrow & I am just SO READY to have this baby. 1 1/2 weeks ago, I was already 1cm dilated and 75% effaced with head down low. Lost my mucus plug with bloody show a week ago. Lately I’ve been feeling so much pressure in my vagina, I’ve had 2 times in the last week where I thought early labor was starting, but contractions quit after 4-5 hours of build-up. Baby is healthy & everything has been going fine with him, so it’s not like I have a “medical problem” reason to want this other that I can’t get more than 2-4 hours of sleep every night because of Braxton Hicks & having to pee all night 😂 I’m just over it and wanting to do what I can (within reason, of course) to get this labor started as long as it’s safe! Anyone ever asked their OB about this before? Any thoughts/helpful advice on this?

Mine offered at 38 weeks but I declined. I wanted to bake as long as possible. I wanted a chunkster. She offered again at 39 weeks and I reluctantly accepted. Hurt like a mother!!! Yuck. Still went to 39w6d. Day before due date. Meh. They come when they come.

My doc volunteered to sweep if I wanted her to.  If you want to try to help get baby to come, try sitting and bouncing on an exercise ball.  Do figure 8s or circles on it with a wide spread legs to help open your hips/pelvis.  Go for long walks...  then they say pineapple and spicy foods...

I would ask! My OB wouldn’t do one until 39 weeks. At my appointment I was 39 weeks exactly and said yes to the sweep. I had my daughter the next day at 39+1!

It hurts more when you’re not dilated as much. I had my first one at 38weeks and 3cm /80% effaced

Ive heard of them offering to around that time. I dont see why it would be a problem.

My doctor did it at 38 weeks when I was pregnant with my daughter. I literally left his office and went into labor 15 mins later

My midwives don’t do it until 39 weeks and the one has a surprising success rate.  I have my appointment Thursday so it may be happening!

My doc did it at 38 weeks... my baby was born at 40+3 after 3 more sweeps.
