Birth plan thrown out!!

Chelsea • Graced with girls 💖💖💖

My birth plan was the exact same as my last pregnancy. No pain meds, water birth, low lights, completely relaxing. My last labor and birth in 2014 was absolutely beautiful and I loved it. This one was a complete 180.

On January 31st I was 11 days overdue and was admitted to hospital to be induced, this would be my 3rd induction so I knew what to expect. They started the pitocin at 7:30pm, the entire night I was restless but not too bad. I slept on and off all night as they upped the dose. They checked me periodically and I stayed at 3cm all night. Come early next morning on February 1 the contractions were getting more intense so I texted my midwife/doula to come over. Everything was in my back, which I have never experienced before. I bounced on my ball, did stretches and movements my midwife asked me to, tried to take a shower but the shower didn’t work in my room 😡😡😡

Contractions were getting more and more frequent, so close together that my midwife wanted to check me because she was sure I had to be close to pushing. Nope. Still at 3cm. This was my 3rd birth and I can honestly say I have never been through that kind of pain before. I was uncontrollably shaking, vomiting and crying. I never felt one contractions in my abdomen, it was all in my back and vagina. It honestly felt like my back was breaking in half. Found out my little one was sunny side up and stuck on a lip in my cervix. I tried to push through all of this for 10 hours, but stayed at 3cm the entire time. Finally I knew my body and mind needed a break and I asked for the epidural. It was administered within 20 minutes and I passed right out. Apparently my body really did need the break because I woke up 1 1/2 hr later and was fully dilated.

Me after the epidural:

I pushed my darling daughter into this world in 5 minutes at 1:12 pm on February 1st.
