Can I give my 5 month pedialyte?!

So lately my little one has been having diarrhea and I have called the doctors and they said to just watch over it and make sure he isn’t continuing to have the same problem if he is I should bring him in but I was just wondering if I was able to give my five month son Pedialyte because he is losing the nutrition and his diet.

The purpose of pedialyte is to rehydrate with the right amounts of electrolytes since the baby is losing more electrolytes than usual having diarrhea. I wouldn’t cut the formula out though, pedialyte doesn’t have fat or protein.

My daughter when she was around this age had 2 weeks of bad diarrhea. I used to give it to her to stay hydrated. Also don’t do baby food because it will make it worse. Just try formula. If they aren’t eating or don’t want bottle water and pedialyte will be good and try again with formula
