Long distance advice

Hey, so I've never posted on here before but I've decided to give it a try. I have recently met someone online, he is really amazing and I really like talking to him. Things have been advancing (sending pics and sexting alot). We really like each other and have a lot in common but now he is asking me if I want to make thing "official". He thinks we could make a long distance relationship work. I have so many concerns here, first I have never met him in person, we talk on snap chat. Second, he lives in the U.S. and I live in Canada. Third, how would my family and friends react to me getting into a long distance relationship with a guy I have never met in person? Am I stupid to even be considering this? I have never been in a relationship, I am almost 20 years old and a virgin as well. Do I really want to commit to a guy i cant even kiss? Please please help me here, I could really use some advice from people with more experience than me.
