They seem to overlook the fact that there is  no evidence (other than the work of mostly fiction that is the bible) that even Jesus walked on water and there is only sketchy "evidence" that Jesus even existed and is highly debated in historical circles both those who are religious and those who are not and obviously if he did exist he was just an ordinary man not the son of a non existent god.

Jesus was just an older version of someone like Martin Luther King Jr. or Mother Theresa or Ghandi. They were extraordinary in their conviction to their cause, but they didn't have super powers, just the power of persuasion. This was Jesus, good guy, not a super hero.

Why would an atheist believe a man walked on water if they don't believe any of the other nonsense stories on the Bible?

I used to believe in a higher power but things happened and i lost all faith.  I tried going back but i couldn't believe.  
We have no proof a man walked on water.  Honestly its probably a story someone made up. How do you prove that anything inthe bible is true? Because "god" told you? There's no evidence backing that god told you. 🤷‍♀️ my opinion you asked.

I believe Jesus was an important man in his society in his time. But the stories of his magic and powers and god creating the earth is all mumbo jumbo. We are not here by any special means. We are no more or no less than any other extraterrestrial beings.
