Polyp removal?

So my husband and I have been ttc for about 17 months now and haven’t had any luck. I was referred to a specialist and they found a polyp in my uterus which they said needs to come out as it isn’t helping me get pregnant. Another specialist gave me a second opinion and said there is no need to have it removed. Anyone else had this before? What was the recovery like? Pre-op scheduled for Friday and surgery schedule for the beginning of March.

It definitely needs to come out. I’ve had two removed. One in surgery and one completely awake in office. Both were fine and there wasn’t really a recovery period. The first one was just recovering from the anesthesia and the second I went back to my normal life right after. Everyone is different so your experience could be different as well. Good luck!

I had laparoscopic surgery (exploratory) because we weren’t able to conceive for 20 months and had 4 failed IUIs. I asked my OB to also do a hysteroscopy since I was going to be out anyways and wanted to get any answers I could. I am so glad I did because I had a polyp right by where my Fallopian tube enters the uterus, and mild endometriosis on both ovaries. We conceived our first son less than 2 months after the surgery. I don’t think that was any coincidence! Recovery was easy and I had very little bleeding. The laparoscopy part caused me to have pain from the gas used to inflate the abdomen but a heating pad helped immensely. I only took two of the pain pills and switched to Tylenol the next day. I had a hysteroscopy a few weeks back and they found three large polyps. Because of the size of my polyps, my doctor did the polectomy procedure at the hospital while I was sedated. Recovery want to bad at all. Because I was sedated I couldn't drive for 24 hours. I took off the day off the procedure and worked from home the day after. I had very little spotting. A heating pad and some Tylenol took the edge off my pain. I felt pretty much back to normal by the third day.

While in an IVF cycle they spotted some polyps. They removed them and had a DnC. And before I could do an implantation of my  frozen embryo I conceived naturally that following month.  Better to be safe and get them out.

I had Laparoscopy and hysteroscopy at the same time. I had 4 small polyps all were benign. The recovery for the hysteroscopy was a piece of cake. No complaints. I would definitely remove them, from what I was told keeping them could possibly cause a miscarriage. But, also do it for piece of mind. Best of luck!
