Someone asked me if my kid got chubbier?

Let me preface I am 5 1/2 months pregnant so I’m not sure if it was the hormones. I was absolutely offended that one of my friends would ask me that? My son is a year and 5 months old. He’s still growing and has a little bit of baby chub to come off. I had extreme weight issues growing up so when anyone criticizes my son I go into full mommy mode. I feel bad because I kind of was harsh when I replied but I thought it was inappropriate.

Yeah just have a conversation w her and let her know how you interpreted it. I personally will sometimes will say how a baby I see in passing is so cute and chubby, but I wouldn’t ever ask if someone’s baby got chubbier. Hopefully the two aren’t seen or interpreted the same way 🤔

Babies are suppose to gain weight and have baby chunk. That’s a good thing. I don’t know why they’d ask about getting chubbier. I can see if they say, the baby is getting so big. That’s common and not offensive in any way. Chunky babies are awesome. I love me a baby roll.

That’s a weird way to phrase it, but babies are supposed to gain weight rapidly so I don’t see how it’s offensive. Most people love chubby babies so I highly doubt it was meant to be rude.

Girl let them have it. I would be going off if someone asked if my child gained weight. My baby still isn’t born yet but the moment it comes out if I hear one offensive comment towards it I will be going all momma bear.

I would never ask someone if their child has gained weight. That’s just rude! But a side note: I love chunky babies! I think they’re the cutest. My first son was a chunky baby. He’s always been in the 90s percentile in his weight since he was born. His doctor has no concerns at all. He’s healthy.

Depending on what kind of relationship I have with that person would depend on my reaction. If it was my best friend, or my mom I wouldn't care. If it's someone I barely knew I'd probably be a little upset.
