When to have your baby shower?

I am on the fence with this question. I thought baby showers were to “meet the baby” BUT it would be nice to have it before so you know what you need. Becoming a first time mom, I’m unsure what I want. I want one before but I want one after. What are your thoughts? What did you do?

Im having mine at 30 weeks so I’ll have to to finish his room with any gifts I may receive and organize everything as well!

Baby showers are done before the baby comes, usually around 30 weeks or so. That way if you’re registered and/or receiving gifts you have time to set everything up still and make any changes or return anything you don’t need. 
A “sip and see” is a party where people meet the baby. Hope this helps!

Baby showers are usually before baby comes. With my first, I had my baby shower around 30weeks... it was a great day and we were showered with so much love! One thing I can recommend from experience, if you can have it a wee bit earlier, do it! By 30 weeks (oh btw I gave birth just 8 weeks later), I found myself very swollen and just uncomfortable. I didn’t want to set anything up or even put away all the gifts we received bc I had no energy and my back pain was terribleeeeee. I did get everything done in time for baby but I was pushing myself to get it all done. This included washing clothes, packing hospital bag, folding/putting away clothes, getting changing table/crib set up, organizing things, etc. This time around, I’m having a girl and if we have a “sprinkle” I’ll surely make sure it’s earlier than 30w so that I can focus on myself and rest the last weeks of this pregnancy instead of trying to get things done and ready for her arrival.

I’m having two showers in two states lol one at 28 weeks and the other at 29. This way we have enough time to see what we still need and can go get it without being in a time crunch before baby arrives. You’re gonna end up buying a couple things here and there after baby comes just becuz you’ll realize what you’re missing in the moment lol

Just like Lauren said they are different I’m having my baby shower at 8 months just to see what and if I’ll need anything that I don’t already have and then for my birthday which is a month after baby comes I’m having a meet and greet for my bday so my family and friends can come see the baby ☺️
