Should I go to prom?

So I’m 16 and have been homeschooled my whole life, I have always wanted to do the whole school dance thing and whatever but obviously I’m homeschooled so my school doesn’t have a dance and my bf (17) doesn’t go to school. I have an opportunity to go to a homeschool prom next year (my senior year) but I have so much anxiety about doing things out of my comfort zone and I really hate my body so I would feel uncomfortable in a dress in front of a bunch of ppl, what should I do? Should I just go for it and do it so I have the experience or not do it? My boyfriend said he would definitely want to go so no worries there. 😰😰

I completely understand, I have been in a similar situation! I'm 18 and going to a prom last year was some of the most fun I've had! And going outside of your comfort zone is all part of growing up. I understand the anxiety, it's something I also struggle with, and one thing I keep telling myself is "after this is all over I'm going to be a badass" and "if I made it through (enter situation here) I can do anything" I know it's hard to work though anxiety, and doing this will be a big step! And if you dont feel comfortable taking that step, think of things you could do until then to help you work up to prom, and do them! One more thing that help me is talking to people who went last year! They can tell you what to expect, and the general vibe of the whole thing! I wish you the very best luck!
