Thoughts on rock n play

Hi! I’m soon to be first time mama. I am getting so many mixed reviews on the rock n play. I know it’s not safe for baby to sleep in a rock n play. Do I use the rock n play so baby to hang out in when I’m doing things like taking a shower, cooking, etc?
