Should I wait to take Flagyl in 1st tri? For BV

I was diagnosed with BV and prescribed Flagyl twice a day for 7 days.. Ive googled the safety of this medication as I've heard it can cause baby harm in the 1st tri and not to many studies have been done.. I almost want to wait to treat in the second tri But I also feel leaving the infection causes more of a risk.. What do you ladies suggest.. Trust my doctor and take the risk.. Or wait until the second tri.. Any comments on experience will be greatly appreciated... I can't remember if I actually had this in my prior 2 pregnancy but I've taken antibiotics during them.
