New to this!

Okay so with my first it just happened, we used no protection of any sort and it just happened. Now ttc #2 and I feel like I don’t even know where to start. Got my iud removed on 2/4, last day of AF was 2/10. Ovulation day is 2/20, we’re doing the every other day sex thing. Now my question is.. when do I need to test? Wait til I miss my next period or can i do it sooner? I don’t want to sound ignorant of the situation but I’ve never really “tried” to conceive and we really want #2 as soon as we can be blessed.
