How to breastfeed and use bottles?

My little one is a week old. He had a tongue tie the first two days that damaged one or my nipples pretty badly. I think his latch is improving bc its only painful at first when he gets in and then resolves. He is also getting plenty of milk bc he is having many wet and dirty diapers. And also my nipples are already sore and damaged from the beginning. How do I make them heal faster? If I want to skip a feeding and pump and give him a bottle how much do I give him? FTM so I’ll take any advice.

You can use Lanolin or nipple balm between feedings. I would apply it before and after and as many times in between that you need. It helps a lot. You can also use a nipple shield for some feedings. If you want to pump you can but some babies don’t do well switching from bottle to breast. My son did fine but some babies won’t take a bottle. You can try, but if your little one takes a bottle look up how to pace feed. So they won’t want to just take the bottle instead of the breast.

Use a nipple shield for a few feeds a day until you heal. I had to use one for the first 3 months with my son to teach him to latch (he had tongue and lip ties as well). Never had sore nipples once.
