How much did/does your baby GIRL weigh at 12 weeks?

I am EBF and my baby girl is still little. The doctor wants me to supplement flormula but she is satisfied when I feed her and I don’t think she needs to. I’m just starting to feed her more often and see if she gains better like that. She is still gaining weight but not as much as the doctor had expected. She is 12 weeks and weighed about 10.5 pounds. She was born 7.2 pounds.

I went through this twice. Don’t stress out too much about it. As long as she’s eating and gaining. Even if it’s not a ton or what they expected. Every baby is different. If she was losing or staying the same weight then I would worry. I had this problem with my first daughter and my third. They were born small and only gained about 2 lbs at 12 weeks. Just keep track of her eating. As long as she’s eating , gaining weight and growing don’t worry too much. She’s still making progress.

My second daughter was born 6 pounds and was only 8 pounds 1 oz at 12 weeks. My pediatricians pushed me to supplement with formula, but I refused because I knew she was getting enough since I was combo pumping and nursing her. She’s just tiny and my husband and I aren’t very big people. She’s now 3 years old and is only 23 pounds! She’s extremely healthy and intelligent. She’s just a little peanut and there’s nothing wrong with that! I’m glad I did not listen to my pediatricians and it took them a while to realize she’s small and growing at her on pace. They’re no longer concerned about her weight or size. Not saying you shouldn’t listen to your pediatrician’s advice because everyone’s situation is different. BUT I was determined to breast feed my daughter and did so for 10 months and she had breast milk for an entire year from my frozen expressed milk stash.
My 3 month son is a different story. He has almost doubled his birth weight already. It’s crazy how different every child is!

We were 8 lbs 6 oz at birth and are barely 12 now. Babe is 95% for height and 18% for weight at her last appointment. Breastfed babies don’t tend to chunk out as much as formula fed babies, especially early on.
Here is the metric the nutritionist at our hospital uses: if your babe has a thigh roll and is growing (height and head circ), then they have adequate fat stores and  your babe is getting enough. No need to supplement.

My girl is only 9 lbs at 15 weeks, the lactation consultant recommended until we start solids to fortify her milk with a scoop of formula twice a day while she gets a bottle since I'm at work. This way she still gets the full amount of breastmilk but gets the extra calories. Shes growing, and is bright eyed and social so they arent overly worried, but she literally had not gained even an ounce in a month. If she had gained anything at all they would not have recommended it. So if shes gaining, and you arent worried, then I'm sure its fine. Every baby is different, and needs a different approach, go with your gut on it.

My daughter was born at 7 pounds 1 ounce. Was 8 pounds 13 ounces at 12 weeks. Now she’s almost 17 weeks and a smidge under 10 pounds. I’m breastfeeding but I did end up adding a scoop or two of formula every day for the last four weeks. Some babies are just little. If she’s meeting milestones and everything else is looking good, just trust your gut on feeding and what’s right for you and your baby.
