Police Facebook pages putting people on blast

Li

A friend who is an attorney brought to light an interesting issue with some local constable Facebook pages. These pages post arrest photos, names, area arrested, and crime info on Facebook. Some crimes include, shoplifting and DWI. They also had pictures of cars pulled over for things like texting while driving or speeding. While arrest records are public information should these Facebook pages be allowed to post things like this? These people have NOT been found guilty and posts are obviously not changed after their court hearings. This means these posts can be seen by friends, family, potential employers etc. Often times the comments are rude (attacking the persons appearance, etc.).

So should it be you do the crime you face the public embarrassment or should there be tighter rules on what can be shared or released.
