Makena Injections

Elizabeth

My last baby, my son, was born at 35 weeks. Because of this my doctor decided to put me on Makena injections once a week to help this pregnancy go to term. The injections are supposed to be done once a week from 16-35 weeks. We fought and fought to get my insurance to cover them, they FINALLY give the ok at 22 weeks, and less than 4 weeks into them we discover I have an allergy to them. 😠

The injections themselves are the most painful thing ever, they cause hives and itching like you wouldn’t believe. Even with alternating arms my skin was blistering and bleeding.

Back to monitoring for signs of early labor since I can’t keep this up.

The photo of my left arm shows an injection site from an injection 8 days ago. The right arm was 36 hours ago.
