Can I get a tattoo while on blood thinners?

I am going in the next few weeks to get a tattoo with my fiancé. This will be my first tattoo and I am worried that I can’t get one with being on blood thinners. I have been on blood thinners since September of 2017 for a blood clot I had in my lung. Has anyone ever gotten a tattoo while on blood thinners? If so how did it go?

Talk to your Dr. I had a friend who was on blood thinners and her Dr let her go off for about a week before she got tattooed and then she went back on them after. Blood thinners can definitely effect a tattoo. As the artist is putting ink into your skin, your blood and plasma is pushing it back out.

My dad has been in blood thinners for years. And he got a tattoo while on them. He bled a lot.   And wouldn’t stop bleeding for a few hours afterwards. It did mess some of it up.
