Breakup advice

Hello beautiful ladies. I need advice!

So I met my ex at university and we were together for 5 years but we always knew our relationship had an expiration date as we are from different religious and cultural background.

We have now ended things and i moved away, but we kept in contact. I did not want to cut ties as we shared something so special and he does not want us to stop communicating

He is a lot more heart broken than I am as I am a stronger person than he is and deal with things a little better. I’ve answered all his questions and made it very clear that we can not be together but he doesnt seem to get it and i really dont know what to do anymore.

Any advice ?
