Dentist worries

Does anyone have any tips for fear of the dentists? I need to go but I cry my eyes out ridiculous I know at even the thought of going, like a whole blubbering mess from an experience I had when I was a young teen. but I NEED to go and can’t even bare ringing them up to explain 😖
