NIPT test?

Question

I’m still on the fence about this test, I don’t think me or my SO has any genetic or chromosome abnormalities, can someone tell me all the pros? I’ve also thought about finding the gender out too, but I’m still worried since the test is done kinda early along and sometimes (rarely) the gender was wrong?

I asked for this today and my doctor told me no because we don't qualify to do it none of it runs in our families. If you only want gender really look into sneak peek. They have lab locations and at home tests

We did NIPT in all three of our previous pregnancies. All three times no chromosome abnormalities were shown. Our first two, boys, were born healthy as the test indicated. Our third, a little girl, had chromosome abnormalities incompatible with life (she had 3 sets of chromosomes instead of the normal 2 sets), that were missed on the test, and she was sadly still born later on in pregnancy. For this reason we most like will NOT do NIPT testing this time, as it missed her issues, and it was a routine ultrasound that picked up issues instead.

I personally do no chromosomal testing during pregnancy. Never have in my previous pregnancies and won’t in this one as well. I just personally don’t believe in having it done for myself.

Mine was not coverages by insurance (we did panorama as that’s what my dr office offered) and we only paid 100$. 
We got a whole print out of statistical chnances our baby would have certain disorders. It’s just a screening, so it’s not diagnostic, but if something came back elevated (eg 1:50 for trisomy 18) I probably would have elected for cvs or amnio just to be prepared.
All my stats were 1:10,000, which was the smallest ratio they gave, so I didn’t do any other testing.
I will be doing it again for this baby, too.

Honestly I’d just look into whether it’s covered by insurance and use that. If it’s covered there’s no harm in getting it done. It’s just a blood test and you’re already probably going to be giving blood anyway. If it’s not covered sounds like the price may not be worth it for you guys since you don’t really have any markers!
