Tdap?

Okay so I’ve been hearing a lot of different opinions and reading different articles on pregnant women who get the Tdap shot around 35 weeks I believe is what I read. I’ve heard a lot of women say not to get the shot, and I was wondering why? Has anyone gotten this shot and had a bad experience? What is the Tdap for during pregnancy? I’ve read different articles but I’d like some actual stories from other women and experiences because some of the articles I’ve read seemed pretty fishy. (Please don’t hate on me for asking these questions I’m just curious, I will talk to my doctor when the time comes, but I want to just hear some information and opinions).

I had it and was fine. There is a lot of controversy about vaccines in general right now. Your best bet is to talk to an actual medical professional who has studied medicine and vaccines and not people on social media. I’m not trying to be mean, but a lot of women in here will tell you this or that and most of it is 100% lies or rumors. I’d never trust a big decision like that to be swayed by random people on here. It’s the whooping cough vaccine. Everyone that’s going to be around your newborn should get it. The idea is that getting it during your pregnancy will transfer some immunity to baby to hold them over until they’re old enough to get their own vaccinations.

So there are all kinds of articles on the internet, and unless you know what to look for most of them are probably written by people with no formal education on the topic. That said, the tdap is the whopping cough vaccine and the reason pregnant women get it is to pass antibodies on to the baby so that the baby can be protected after birth until it is old enough to get its own tdap vaccine. I've had it with my two previous pregnancies and will be getting it again in about 10 weeks. My husband already had it. And wont need a booster until 10 years from the date of his last one.

My husband and I both had ours. I got mine at 28 weeks and he got his at 30. If we lived near our parents I would’ve asked them to get it as well. My baby was born extremely healthy

I did have mine and had zero issues and went on to have a healthy baby. Tdap is for whooping cough you are given the vaccine in hopes of passing on the antibodies to your baby prior to birth to help protect your new baby from whooping cough .
