Past infections TTC

I am new to all the lingo on here, so I apologize. I have an 8 year old son who it took my almost a year to conceive. Up until 8 months ago I wasn't trying for anymore. I am almost 35 and have had PID and a few other infections (all prior to my son) that have me worried he was maybe a miracle baby and I'm not going to get pregnant again. We've been trying for over 7 months with no luck. Saw a specialist today and have to decide If I want to do further tests and labs or wait until it's been a year, as that is when ita considered a "fertility issue". Anyone else have similar history to mine that can lend some positive feedback or advice?
