Why are you getting induction dates set in advance?

Question

I’ve been noticing so many people in the group mention that their doctors are setting induction dates for weeks later and I was curious as to why. (Not asking in a rude way, just genuinely curious as my doctor hasn’t said a peep and is totally fine with me going to 41+ weeks) 
Is it a medical reason, did you ask, or did the doctor just say we’re going to set a date?
I’m currently 37+2.

I’m getting a scheduled c section because my boy is very much breech & to go to far into spontaneous labor is very dangerous, but I won’t have it done until 39+5.

I’m being induced at 39 weeks. I asked to be due to baby’s size. 10+ lb babies run on both sides of our families.  My husband and one of his sisters were 10+ lbs and the other two were 9lbs. One of my sisters was almost 11 lbs. she got stuck during birth and almost died. 
This is our 3rd baby. Our first was 8lbs 15oz and second was 9lbs 10oz. This baby is measuring even bigger than our second did during growth scans so I’m pretty nervous. Not only do we make bigger babies but we all have broad shoulders too. I want to have this baby earlier because I’m only 5’4” so I’m not sure that my body could handle a 10lb baby.

Some will set them simply to get the person on the schedule at the hospital. I know the one I gave birth at will only allow so many a day so it's limited. I was offered induction on Friday for today and I accepted. I'd been contracting for five weeks I was getting exhausted by it and it was starting to affect my home life from the pain and lack of sleep from all the "useless" contractions.

If I’m induced again it’ll bc my bp creeps up, I have chronic hypertension controlled by meds.
Thats whey I was induced at 39 wks with my first. So far so good there... more pressing issue is baby’s position. Hoping he’s flipped head down, he’s been all over the last few weeks.

For starters, My doctor is on vacation the week I am due. This is my third pregnancy, i am 36 & 4 days, 50% effaced & 1cm dilated. So we agreed to induce me exactly one week before my due date when I’ll be 39 weeks. That’s if I don’t go early of course 🐻

I got induced on Saturday due to Cholestasis, so glad they did!

If I do it will be because of high blood pressure. Had it before pregnancy and it’s drug controlled but dr said there is still a possibility that it could spike
